Prevention
The best and easiest way to prevent DID is from a young age, which means intervening in abusive families that abuse their children, or just not abusing children at all. If treatment is necessary for DID caused by abuse or other trauma from a young age, treatment should be found and given as soon as possible to help the patient come to terms with his/her trauma. To shelter children from relatives or other people with DID that can influence the condition on them, the best option is to remove the affected individual from the area during their bouts of DID.
